Pre-Team
The Spring Ridge Sharks are again offering a pre-competition team opportunity for young children. The “Shark Pups” is a limited entry group of 4-6 year olds who, while able to jump in the water, tread for a little bit and find their way to the side of the pool, are not quite ready to join the competition team.
This is not a “Learn to Swim” program for kids who are afraid of the water or have never been in the pool but is designed to get young kids from using floaties or a noodle to swimming the length of the pool unassisted. This is a group setting with 5-6 kids per coach, your swimmer will receive group instruction and some one-on-one coaching, but it is not a private lesson. Due to the enhanced supervision required, this program is limited to 15 morning and 15 evening swimmers.
The Shark Pups will have 3 morning OR 3 evening practices per week (am/pm assigned at registration), during the middle 4 weeks of the Sharks’ season, totaling 12 1-hour practices (pending weather cancellations). Because this is not a competition team, there is no volunteer requirement for Shark Pup only families. Shark Pups are welcome to attend swim meets to cheer on their teammates, and can attend the Shark activities, to include pictures, late night swims, and the competition team banquet.
A parent or guardian is required to attend every practice and event with their child, coaches and team leadership will not be responsible for watching your child out of the water. Every participant must be potty trained and willing to enter the water. Coaches will not force children into the water.
